First of all, my heart is with bed & breakfast inns. To stay at a b&b is usually to be hosted by folks who are passionate about making their guests feel like they are at home. And that's exactly what we experienced here. That said, thanks fellow yelpers for helping guide us here to Carriage Way B&B. Parking-around back, plenty of room, unpaved with that gray rocky stones gravel but its not cramped, you can park in any CW spot, we never had an issue. Check in-we checked in Friday afternoon around 2pm. They had a welcome board as you entered with all the guests first names on individual cards, that was such a fantastic nice touch! We got there just in time for an overview of the inn and "to do" suggestions for the weekend by one of the owners and the manager...... Two of the sweetest ladies who had freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in a jar ready for us! They knew everything about everything you can do in San Augustine. You can come here clueless, and instantly they empower you with a full weekends worth of full day plans, carefully scribbled up maps with suggestions.....they will even call and make "squeeze-you-in" reservations for you at those "must-do" foo foo restaurants. Fabulous, darling! Common area - The living room where we sat for the overview, blended into a small dining room, where there were a few individual 2-chair tables each with place settings for two. Along the back wall against the kitchen were condiments, glasses, cups, a coffee maker--that cookie jar, Saturday it was rice krispie treats-- a small under cabinet refrigerator with water, beer and soda, accessible 24 hours for the guests. It was stormy that afternoon, so that whole area was a nice place to sit and chat if you didn't want to retreat to your room. Hospitality - They staff and owners were always on their A-game....it didn't feel contrived throughout our stay--we know fake "happy-to-help-you" all too well from living in SoFla so long. Lol.They saw my disability and were sincerely helpful and doting. This inn is not really wheelchair accessible, I was one legged with appropriate assistive devices and we booked a 1st floor room, so I was good, the toughest part just upon entering the house from the outside, going up and down those few front stairs.......my heart was set on staying here for our first visit to SA. Room- the Peridot room, small, cute, clean Victorian with a very small bathroom---step down or WOOPS dmmp-duh-dmm. lol. Read the room descriptions in case you prefer a different room setup available in another room. This bathroom had a clawfoot tub, but I do believe a couple other rooms have walk ins. We booked this which was what was available for our preferred date, so we did know beforehand. Set up on a small table in the room with two glasses was a little vessel of some fine scotch, so impressive. The Peridot room is on the first floor in the very back of the house....it can get a teensy bit noisy in the morning when the staff starts getting busy, but it wasn't a terrible at all. The hallway is tight, too, don't be shocked if you open the door and staff is right there going into the storage closets for supplies. Breakfast - good, homemade. We only ate at the Inn Saturday morning. The owners husband, co-owner, was helping out. He was a doll as well, very mellow and friendly. From South Florida, they were a few years in and they were full steam ahead.....my mom was a small business owner and its the relationships you build, the trust and service you provide, because ppl could go anywhere else. Oh, and those homemade blueberry scones and that orange mango juice, though. Lol. Checkout- we didn't get to stay for breakfast, we had to get back on the road Sunday morning. Checkout was easy, the owners gave us the board card with our names, talked with us for a little bit, and bid us a safe journey. Hubby, who would always rather stay at a ten star lah-dee-dah place, was relaxed and happy with our choice in accommodations. Definitely would stay here again, casted leg and all. Lol. Love!

The innkeepers for our favorite St. Augustine B&B have sold their inn. So we ventured out in search of a new favorite place to stay. We have walked past and even stopped inside many of them during our frequent St. Augustine visits. Armed with this local knowledge and then going through the web sites we decided to give the Carriage Way Bed & Breakfast a try. SCORE! Every aspect was fantastic during our visit. Our room was decorated very nicely and had detailed touches that made it feel warm and interesting. The king bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a decent size too. Our room had a flat screen TV - great to fall asleep to. The common area of the inn is large and nicely appointed as well. Breakfast is served from 8:30am to 10am. This makes it very flexible for both early risers and those that stayed out late the night before enjoying St. Augustine night life. Some B&B's serve breakfast only at a specific time - snooze and you loose. I am not a quiche fan, without batting an eye they offered me an alternative. Didn't make me feel bad that I did not like the standard offering that day - nice! (By the way, the wife had the quiche and loved it) The on-site parking lot is large and very easy to get in and out of - again, very nice. Many St. Augustine B&B's don't even have onsite parking or if they do it is very cramped. The innkeepers and the staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcomed. Even though we have been to St. Augustine many times they still took the time to go over some of the recent changes. We were also given some discount coupons to some of the places we mentioned that we planned on going to. Throughout the visit they were always checking if everything was OK and asked for feedback on the places we went to. We were planning on trying several other B&B's but after such a great overall experience I think we will be back here again.

Outstanding bed & breakfast!!! Hospitality was superb! The location was close to the heart of the city and only required a short walk to the restaurant, shopping, and bars. We stayed in the platinum room and the view in the morning with the sun coming through the windows was a great way to wake up. Definitely recommend it as a place to stay!!!

Came here for a weekend getaway with the wife, and decided to stay at a B&B for the first time. What a great decision we did! From the minute we walked in, we were greeted by Matt who made us feel right at home. He took time to ask about us, and to get an idea of what we wanted to do. He outlined some "must-see" spots around town which were all great! We were a little hesitant about staying at a B&B, but this place blew our mind! The house has so much charm from its original architecture, the room (we stayed in the Sapphire) was clean and quaint. The bathrooms were a trip...we had the old style porcelain tub, which was really neat. All the furniture is from the time period of when the house was built. The morning breakfasts were a great way to start our day, and we felt sad to leave. We will definitely be coming back, and staying here again! Thanks for making our trip so memorable!

Had an excellent birthday weekend in St Augustine at the Carriage Way BB! Matthew was fantastic and gave lots of recommendations on things to do around town. Our room, The Pittman Room, was beautiful and very clean. There is some construction going on across the street, but it didn't dampen our stay. I had researched many other BBs and picked this one because of the nice rooms, price and the slight walk to George St. Very nice to stroll down to the party but not be sleeping in it! This was my first stay in a BB and I was very happily surprised at all of the personal touches; never going to find that in a hotel. The daily breakfast was very good and different every morning. On site parking was a plus as there was a pirate event going on downtown which had all of the lots full. Thanks so much Matthew for a great weekend!

This is such a beautiful B & B . From the minute we walked in the door Joanna took such great care of us . She couldn't have been nicer to us . When we got up to our room ( the garnet ) it was darling ! Beautiful furniture and the bed was so comfortable ! We had a fireplace that made it quite romantic . The next morning we had breakfast in bed . Just to let you know , I can't stand French toast BUT the way they made it .... It was excellent ! The next night I asked if we could upgrade to the amethyst room which is a private suite with separate entrance ... It too was so beautiful ! I didn't sleep as well because the jets in the bath tub turned on from out of nowhere and it kinda scared me but other than that .... It was awesome ! The cleaning lady Lauren was so helpful and sooooo nice ! We just loved everyone here ! The owner we only met for a second but she was really kind and so beautiful . Thank you for making our stay awesome ! We will be back to see you again . God bless you .

What Carriage Way B&B offers is exactly what you expect when staying at a bed and breakfast. Larry & Sandy were gracious hosts, providing friendly service, offering handy tips, and an uncanny ability to remember all the guests' names. The rooms were a great size with just enough storage and no wasted space. The soft bed was covered in even softer sheets, while the antique furniture added to the atmosphere. Breakfast was different every morning, always homemade, served with fresh fruits and tasty coffee. Most rooms have a private bath located inside the room, while a few (like mine) had the bathroom located just outside (no more than 10 feet away). Not ideal, but not a major inconvenience. Carriage Way also offers bicycles to ride around town, although everything was close enough that we never really bothered. The location is pretty much in the heart of the main district. Overall, I think Carriage Way is an excellent B&B, and I would definitely return and recommend them.

Had an excellent stay here over the fourth holiday. Almost don't want to post it as I want it to stay a secret. We rented the cottage and it was perfect for our family. Right in the center of it all. Breakfast was always tasty. Michaele was so nice and welcoming. Great Inn keepers.

Wonderful and peaceful week end at this quiet and well staffed and stocked B&B. Refreshments and Breakfast was very tasty, a variety every morning and afternoon. Within walking distance of all the major site seeing destinations. But far enough away that the evenings are quiet and laid backed.

We had a 5-star experience at this B & B. Great room, great hosts, great breakfast, great price (competitive to hotels), great location. Parking on site, have bikes if you like, great wrap around porch for sittin'. Easier access than many places for those of us with less "walking ability". Homey. Memorable. Great specials by email.
